PostHeaderIcon Cara: Sept 11th

We of course must remember the day. Being New Yorkers we will always remember, as friends and people we know were tragically affected by that horrible day. I remember walking my then 1st and 3rd graders to the bus stop that morning around 9:00 a.m., thinking what a perfect September Day it was. That was the most beautiful blue sky I think I have ever seen since. Now I like to think it was God getting ready to welcome into heaven so many souls. He knew they were coming and wanted to make it perfect.

I will sit today and watch as they read off the names. It will be quiet in my house as it has been these past eight years...and I will cry as I listen, not able to turn it off.

That is my city. Those were my people, even though I didn't personally know any that were lost. When I think of how "tough" New Yorkers came together during that time it makes me proud. That's what it means to be an American. Not following what the government says and never talking back or disagreeing as some people seem to think these days. It's being true, steadfast, brave and proud.

Don't forget to hang your flag out today. God Bless America.

You mentioned the amazing blue sky on 9/11/01...I too remember looking up at the sky on my way to work that morning and just thinking "ahhh...what a perfect day it is...." To this day, I still have that image etched in my mind...it was simply spectacular. And to think how just an hour later, our lives were forever changed.
