My computer is driving me nuts. Norton has installed some kind of update that every single website I go to, it tells me it is not secure and wants to navigate away. I will ask hubby - who is an IT guy - to look at it over the weekend but right now I am really frustrated! Even as I am trying to blog, I get an Error Message - could not be processed. Please try again. If anyone else has had this problem - please let me know!

Okay - now that I have gotten that out of my system... I need to vent about homework. My kids are getting too much of it! My second grader had a unit test on Tuesday in science. The teacher sent home the text book and a study guide the weekend before. This threw her into a total meltdown over the wekend and she wanted to spend each day studying. It is great that she is such a conscientious student - and nice to get good study habit established early - but she is 7! She should not be stressing over a test. She should be outside playing.

My 6th grader is getting 2 - 3 hours of homework everynight plus EVERY weekend. I am not a big supporter of homework - sorry teachers . I believe that homework is for reinforcement purposes only and 37 math problems isn't going to show the child knows it any more than 10 math problems. My kids are in school 6 - 7 hours per day depending on their schedule. They come home and spend 2 - 3 hours doing homework. They eat, go to their activities , maybe have an hour (if they are lucky) of TV time and then it is bed. I don't get to spend any time with them - except on the weekend and now they have homework then too! Enough! Don't even get me started on the fact that my 6th grader has Coloring homework - really? Coloring is curriculum in Middle School now?

That is my rant for today. How is your day going?

I hate the homework also. My 12 year old son is playing football and has practice three days a week from 6-8. He doesn't get off the bus until 5 and we have to leave by 5:30 to get him there on time. That means he has to eat dinner and get his homework done after 8:30 every night. It is totally stressing him out and I am READY for football to be over. BTW, I tried to follow, but I got an error message (cause that's what you wanted to hear)

I really don't know how kids do it today! Between all the school work and activites! Yes- we don't have to sign them up for activities but they should have something to look forward to.

I give my kids so much credit to be able to do it all!!

Boy- did we have it easy growing up or what?

The amount of homework that kids get these days is just ridiculous. I used to nanny for a family with pre teens and they had hours of homework every night.

Yikes... I would (very nicely) talk to some of those teachers. I am a teacher and would be mortified if I found out HW was taking my students that long!
