Jenn: Old School

Today is one of those days... when there is so much to do that you can't possibly imagine how it will all get done. It will get done. It always does. Maybe not as perfect as I would want it to be - but some things will just have to be less than perfect. That's hard for me to swallow - the whole idea of being less than perfect and unfortunately I have passed some of that to ballerina who at 10 last night was trying to finish some baked goods and cried - I can't stop now, it's got to be perfect - as she was falling apart from exhaustion.
The thing with perfection is that generally you are the only one who notices the slight flaws. Everyone else is having a great time while you are freaking over the color of the frosting not being the right shade of pink. Today I will not freak out and I will embrace the slightly too bright pink cupcakes.
Ballerina is having a bake sale today at her school to raise money for the red cross. She has started a Red Cross club where the goal is to raise money to donate to whatever disaster needs it. She is very empathetic, my ballerina. Somehow I was volunteered to run the bake sale. OK - no problem - except the sale was supposed to be last month is now TODAY. Did I mention today is Lu's birthday party? Yep - 14 girls in my backyard. So between bake sales and birthday parties, I have a full plate today. The birthday party is what I want to call "old school." The kind I had as a kid. Making some crafts, a pinata, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, cupcakes (with too pink frosting) "mocktails" and a jumping castle. It will be fine. My insides might be stressing but my outsides remain cool and collected. Now I just need the damn sun to come out and shine and all will be right with the world.
Cara's two cents: There's no such thing as too pink...and I fixed your glasses. Perfect. :)
