PostHeaderIcon Cara: Advice from a Tree

Normally I would have made my friend "Buddy" post this under Guest Blogger. She is not one for the spotlight, but I could not take credit for finding this. She and I both have a penchant for great quotes, plaques with great sayings or books that make you cry think. She has this on her dresser and knew I would love it. And of course I do.

I have issues with change and the change of seasons no different for me. This reminds me to embrace change, be it from sitting by the pool to walking through crunchy fallen leaves. Or letting one of my birds out of the nest out into the world. The summer contentment thing I got down pat. Maybe just maybe this year when Old Man Winter comes and sits himself in my lap I will remember these words about winter. For now I think I will try the fall "wisdom to let go" on for size. Thanks Buddy. You always know when I need you.

Advice From a Tree

Dear Friend,

Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of your true nature
Think Long Term
Go out on a Limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go like the leaves of Fall
The Rest and Quiet renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures
Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view!

I love it and my personal goal is to embrace the seasons and not just count the days until summer starts again. Posting this the day after 9/11, I'm cried out, emotionally exhausted and prayerful, it's a perfect time to remember that each day, even the yucky slushy ones, are a gift.
