Jenn: Trick or Treat

Halloween was fun. The weather held and all the trick or treaters were out in full force. I went through over 400 pieces of candy... we thought we were going to run out because by 5 we were down to the bottom of the bucket so I went out and bought more (at exorbitant prices) and no one came after dark. My husband and I figured since all the little kids came in the day light, the bigger kids would come at night. No one came after 7. Awesome - lights out.
My kids had a great day. We did Trick or Treat on Main street. It was great - it felt like we were on a movie set with all the kids running up and down main street in their costumes. We saw so many friends all dressed up - the kids had a blast. Then we headed over to the High School - they were sponsoring a safe Halloween and the kids in the school were up all night on Friday decorating the hallways - they did an unbelievable job - the kids could trick or treat down the hallway and then off to the cafeteria to play games. We headed home to trick or treat in the neighborhood - met lots of new neighbors and ran into some old friends. Finally after a long sugary day we headed to Ro's house for pizza.
My kids have enough candy to open a small shop - I will let them have a few pieces a day for a week or two and then I combine everyone's goodies and you now have to earn candy. You can do a good deed or help Mom or just be kind and you may get a piece of candy. By thanksgiving whatever has not been eaten will be tossed or donated.
Now that Halloween has come and gone, the mad rush begins - 4 weeks until Thanksgiving and 8 weeks until Christmas - time to batten down the hatches and get ready for the Holidays. Presents and turkeys and Santa Oh My!

ugh! I was having a good time reading your post until you had to go and put numbers to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now I'm stressed.
Sounds like you all had a good weekend. And you are right - the rush now officially begins.
You should've put yourself in the picture Mom!

Christmas UGH! I don't even want to think about Christmas shopping.
Being able to Trick or Treat for real is just the best. Cute girlies. Were trying a new candy divvy out this year. My BFF's hubby is a dentist, he says let them eat til they get sick and then throw it away. Claims stretching it out causes cavities more than a few days of bingeing. Must be something to it. My kids have stopped asking already and its only Tuesday. I'll throw it out by Friday, I'm eating most of it... LOL
